MISSION & GOALS
OUR MISSION: To identify, educate and motivate community leaders to address the challenges facing the Mahoning Valley.
OUR ORGANIZATION: Leadership Mahoning Valley is a non-profit corporation created to identify individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences who demonstrate leadership talent and community commitment. Created in 1984 and governed by a volunteer board, LMV is one of more than 300 community leadership programs in the United States and is a member of the Association of Leadership Professionals (ALP).
The Leadership Mahoning Valley Signature Program is an extensive nine-month leadership training program that incorporates key community concepts, current leadership themes and training opportunities. In addition to the signature Leadership Mahoning Valley program, specialty leadership development workshops will be presented throughout the year, including a Lessons in Leadership Speaker Series targeting specific affinity groups such as Youth, Young Professionals and Nonprofit Leaders, as well as a Women’s Leadership Network.
OUR ORGANIZATIONAL GOALS are as follows:
-
- To identify existing and emerging leaders in our region who have a commitment to our Valley’s future.
- To identify leaders that represent various geographic, ethnic, occupational, economic and other diverse segments of our community
- To increase participants’ potential for civic responsibilities and leadership through education about leadership skills, community issues, community agencies and organizations that serve the Valley.
- To foster significant dialogue among participants and established community leaders from areas such as human services, economic development and government.
- To develop a leadership network that enables participants to work more effectively in their area of involvement.
- To enable participants to fully utilize the leadership network to leverage support for actions that benefit the Valley.
- To evaluate the impact of the Leadership organization on the community, its agencies, organizations and individual participants in order to modify and improve the program’s content and effectiveness.
