Applications for the Leadership Mahoning Valley Class of 2026, which will begin this September, are available now. The deadline to apply is Friday, July 11.
Through this immersive, interactive program which includes a series of speakers, tours, hands-on activities and site visits, participants will gain knowledge of programs, services, businesses, and institutions in our community. Program days are centered around specific topics such as History and Heritage of the Valley, Government and Justice, Health and Human Services, Quality of Life, Business and Economic Development, Housing and Community Development, Diversity and Culture, and Education. Additionally, participants will participate in a DiSC© Assessment to gain a deeper understanding of themselves and others. Participants will enhance their personal leadership development by increasing the skills necessary to raise self-awareness and improve teamwork, productivity, and communication.
Participation in Leadership Mahoning Valley is open to recognized and emerging leaders with demonstrated commitment to community service. Leadership Mahoning Valley is designed for individuals who live and/or work in Mahoning and Trumbull counties in NE Ohio. The Leadership Mahoning Valley Selection Committee seeks to accept a diverse class, representative of our community. The Committee looks for applicants who:
- Have demonstrated interest in the community through past and current involvement.
- Have a passion for and commitment to the Mahoning Valley and have demonstrated their
interest in the community through past and current involvement. - Have an interest in increasing their personal development and community leadership.
- Have clear leadership potential and have demonstrated capacity and a track record for driving
action and results within their own organization or in the community. - Will contribute to the shared learning that takes place by sharing their unique experiences
with the other class participants. - Represent a diverse group of individuals across all sectors of our community in business,
labor, education, health and human services, arts, religion, government, and community-based
organizations. - Are willing to make the time commitment required to immerse themselves in the program
and have the full support of their employer.

In existence since 1984, Leadership Mahoning Valley is an independent 501(c)3 non-profit corporation created to identify individuals with diverse backgrounds and experience who demonstrate leadership talent and community commitment. In 1994, Leadership Mahoning Valley combined the highly successful Leadership Youngstown and Leadership Warren programs which were first established by a
group of interested citizens in 1984 and 1988, respectively. About Leadership Mahoning Valley
Leadership Mahoning Valley is a non-profit corporation created to identify individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences who demonstrate leadership talent and community commitment. Created in 1984 and governed by a volunteer board, LMV is one of more than 300 community leadership programs in the United States and is a member of the Association of Leadership Professionals (ALP). The Leadership Mahoning Valley (LMV) Signature Program is an extensive 10- month leadership training program that incorporates key community concepts, current leadership themes and training opportunities. In addition to the signature Leadership Mahoning Valley program, specialty leadership development workshops and a Lessons in Leadership Speaker Series targeting specific affinity groups such as Youth, Young Professionals and Nonprofit Leaders, as well as a Women’s Leadership Network will be presented throughout the year.
